Frequently Asked Questions
I am currently accepting bookings up to 18 months in advance. Weekends (May through Nov) book very quickly & I only accept one wedding per day - no exceptions. Without a signed contract & 50% deposit I never guarantee my availability for your date. Dates have been known to become unavailable within hours. Please book early.
Off-peak wedding dates are considered Monday through Thursday, year-round, & all dates from Dec 1 through Dec 20, & Jan 2 through March 1. *Excluding holidays. To qualify for off-peak discount, booking arrival & departure times must fall between 9am & 3pm & must meet the $325 booking minimum (before tax & discount).
I offer on-location services for bridal clients all over New Mexico, Texas, Colorado, Arizona, Nevada, & beyond.
For clients located in Albuquerque, Rio Rancho, & Santa Fe, NM metro areas there is no cost for travel. Other locations require .58 per mile, round trip. I require a $150 fee for nightly accommodations for any service located more than 200 miles away from Albuquerque. Week-of changes (within 7 days) to location or timing will incur a fee of $25. For specific information on pricing for travel, please email.
DEPOSITS & PAYMENTS
Your 50% deposit is due after you have read, reviewed & signed your contract & when you are ready to reserve your wedding date. Deposits are non-refundable. I am happy to transfer your paid deposit to another date within 12 months from the initial date, provided that the new date is not already booked (please understand that this is unlikely, as dates typically book very early).
All final payments are due no later than 7 days before the wedding. If you have not paid your final payment by 5pm, 7 days before your event I will not be able to accommodate your booking & you will lose your deposit. Payments can be made by cash, credit/debit card, or PayPal.
I so appreciate you considering tipping for a job well done. When calculating gratuity, please keep in mind the time spent preparing for your wedding day, time spent creating custom schedules, answering calls, emails, & texts, etc... Customary tip amount is between 18% & 20% of the total services rendered, minus any gratuity given at the trial. All gratuity should be provided in cash, directly to the artist on the day of the wedding.
Your preview session is your time to try different hair &/or makeup looks, in order to be certain of your planned look. To maximize your time with me, please arrive prepared with an idea of the looks you'd like to try. Bring photos of makeup & hair styles that you like &/or do not like. I have found that photos of yourself in makeup that you like are especially helpful. These examples will give me an idea of what a "romantic up-do" means to you, as another bride may have a completely different idea of what that looks like. Please keep in mind that while looking at Pinterest & other sites, you should focus on images of women who look similar to you (similar skin color, hair color, hair length, face shape, & eye color).
PREPARING FOR AN APPOINTMENT
All parties expecting services should arrive with a clean, freshly moisturized face (no makeup). Each client should arrive 5 - 10 minutes before their service time for skin & hair prep. Hair should be clean & dry with no product. It is ideal to wear a loose-fitting, button-up shirt or robe (robes without collars are preferable) for your hair & makeup services. Strap marks & indentations from clothing cannot be covered with makeup & removing your shirt over your head can cause makeup to smear or hair to become displaced.
Please ensure you disclose any known skin allergies or sensitivities (including eye sensitivities) or any previous reactions you have had to makeup or skincare products.
WEDDING DAY SCHEDULE, CHANGES, & DELAYS
I allot 30 minutes per person per service (1 hour for both makeup & hair). Generally, 30 minutes is about as fast as a service can be completed without cutting corners, or sacrificing certain aspects, like longevity of wear. If you have special requests or concerns please discuss this with me so we can allot more time if necessary.
Week-of changes to arrival &/or finish times are generally not accepted, however, when possible, these changes will result in a fee of $25 per change.
As you get closer to your wedding day, I am more than happy to assist you in creating a "getting ready" schedule & an email you can send out to your bridal party &/or family members to inform them of their "appointment time" as well as instructions for how to prepare for their makeup & hair services. Please note that my finish time is contingent on your photographer's start time. You must know what time your photographer needs to begin before I can make your getting ready schedule.
In the event scheduled services exceed the allotted time due to client delays, I will make every effort to accommodate the entire bridal party. I maintain full discretion, based on availability, whether or not to continue services past the scheduled end time. Unfinished services due to a client delay does not warrant a refund or discount.
Same day services (i.e., additional bridesmaids, friends, etc...) may be added depending on availability & will require full payment prior to service - this will also result in a 25% convenience fee.
I follow careful procedures to avoid cross contamination. All brushes & makeup products are carefully sanitized between every makeup application. I stock my kit with hypoallergenic makeup items when possible. Any skin condition should be reported by the client prior to application & if need be, a sample test of makeup may be performed on the skin to test reaction (prior to the wedding day). By signing the contract, client(s) agree to release the artist from liability for any skin conditions due to allergic reaction.
IS THE MAKEUP WATERPROOF?
I carry a variety of waterproof & moisture-resistant products, as well as water-resistant makeup setting spray. No makeup is totally tear-proof, but I take every measure possible to ensure your makeup lasts through the day & have had excellent feedback on the longevity of my work. I also provide bridal touch-up kits with items to help keep your look picture perfect all day & night. At your makeup trial, I will also provide you with tips to help keep your makeup in place.
